Kiln Dried Hardwood Lumber[1]
Cascara
Growing as a small deciduous tree in the big-timber regions of the Pacific Northwest, the cascara buckthorn (Rhamnus purshiana) contains a medicinal extract in its bark that's a sure cure for one of mankind's most common maladies. For over 100 years, cascara buckthorn has brought relief to those suffering from constipation.
Cascara wood varies from yellow to orange-brown in color and is easy to machine and finish but is seldom sold commercially.
When available we offer a small selection of Cascara lumber. Semi-rough sawn and kiln dried. Typical price about $3.00 a board foot.
We have a wide variety of wonderful boards available for very creative craft projects. Ask about inexpensive sawmill scraps for firewood and other projects as well as sawdust for animal bedding or ????
[1] All our hardwood lumber is sawn on a bandsaw, kiln dried to 6-8% and has not been surfaced on any sides.
